Catherine OIRY graduated as a pharmacist in 1993. Then, she continued her studies and received a Ph.D.  in drug sciences in 1997 at the University of Montpellier. Her thesis work was performed in the Laboratory of Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins LAPP. She analyzed the mechanism of action of the CCK-B/ Gastrin receptor (a GPCR) by using various pharmacological approaches. In 2000, she did a Post-doctoral training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (USA), during which she studied the expression and the activity of a computer-designed intra-molecular chaperone. Until 2004, as contracted researcher in LAPP, she characterized an isoform of CCK-B receptor in lymphoblastic T cells and worked on the development of new amidated-peptide hormones by computer-designing approach. Catherine OIRY was appointed assistant professor of Pharmacology at the University of Montpellier in 2005 and became professor in 2015. She joined the IBMM in 2011. She has a strong background in molecular pharmacology, GPCR, cell signaling and glucose metabolism. Currently, her research focuses on the characterization and the mechanism of action of GHSR ligands and naturally occurring molecules, more specifically in the field of metabolic diseases.
